Sir— This refers to the editorial, “Waiting for dynamism” (March 20). The severe political upheaval stemming from the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s poster child duo in their respective home turfs in Uttar Pradesh, which some political pundits are also seeing as the tip of an iceberg of public disenchantment against the party, may prove fleeting in case the grand old party as the chief Opposition fails to act timely and prudently.
The editorial’s observation that Congress president Rahul Gandhi should concentrate on his organisational network with a good blend of the old and the new guard with a mutual benefit agenda for the regional satraps in mind as well, holds good.
Or else, if lost in ritualised mutual recrimination with the Government, the Congress may get distracted from the main goal it has to go with to contest the next year’s parliamentary election against the BJP.
