This refers to the news report, “Kasab II misled by hostages” (August 6). The baby-faced militant, Mohammed Naved, had an amusing expression. He was smiling, using words like ‘fun’ to describe his actions, and claiming that he was from Pakistan. Interrogation of this baby-faced terrorist has thrown up some startling facts about the indoctrination and terror matrix across the line of Control. It looks Naved, a battle-hardened militant, is so brainwashed that he showed little remorse when caught by Indian security forces. He was captured after a deadly attack on a military convoy in Jammu & Kashmir.
Investigators must take his statement with a pinch of salt, given by his flip-flop during questioning. It is possible that he may belong to a larger group, which has been pushed to fuel militancy in Jammu. As expected, Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority records have revealed that Naved is not a Pakistani national.
