Sir This refers to the editorial, “The london reminder” (March 24). It has now become clear that the attack outside the British Parliament was the handiwork of the Islamic State. Mercifully, the attacker failed to enter Parliament; the consequence is too chilling to imagine if he had. Thankfully, the inbuilt and massive security around the Commons and the lords was effective in protecting the rarefied assembly of people.
All said and done, the attack must have woken the British authorities to the dangers of future terror strikes. Internal security will have to be increased substantially and it may well lead to closer scrutiny of immigrants and tourists too. Deeper investigation will reveal in due course the links, if any, of the london terrorist and whether there was a network from which he was drawing inspiration.
