One of most unexpected spinoffs of the demonetisation saga is that people are learning to live frugally. long accustomed to let currency fly off their wallets, people are now trying to limit their spending. Political rhetoric is expected in such situations.
By and large, people are facing difficulties with patience without breaking into protests. Banks have been called upon to undertake this gigantic task at a short notice and the employees have risen to the occasion. Bank managers without explicit direction have aided senior citizens, worked weekends, and tea-sellers and store keepers have sold wares on trust. Demonetisation remains a testament to the idea that India only makes progress together.
