Sir — The Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee, Mr PC Chacko, has clearly acted more like a Congressman than an impartial chief of a panel constituted to probe the 2G Spectrum licence allocation scam.
Unfortunately, his loyalty to the Congress prevailed over his obligation to Parliament. He has shown glaring partisanship in the conduct of the proceedings and the preparation of the draft report. His adamant refusal to allow former Union Minister for Telecommunications A Raja to depose before the JPC is proof enough of his ineligibility to hold this important post.
Regardless of the sanctity of a parliamentary committee, Mr Chacko has tried his level best to bail out the Government. He was keener to bury rather than dig out the truth. If the JPC is now vertically divided with Opposition parties sinking their differences, he alone is to blame. His position as JPC Chairman has now become untenable and he must either resign on his own or be sacked by the Speaker to redeem some credibility.
