Sir — Even as the media stays focussed on the issue of black money stashed abroad, I wish to highlight the sad predicament of the ordinary people whose hard-earned money and assets are not safe even in India’s banks. Spare a thought for the people whose lockers were looted in the recent tunnel heist in a nationalised bank in Haryana.
I myself lost Rs75,000 in a single day due to unauthorised transactions from my account with a nationalised bank, and did not even receive an SMS alert. I wonder if the Government, law-enforcement agencies, or even the nationalised banks, care enough about the money of the common man.
