Modi's Cabinet is a blend of youth and experience

This refers to the editorial, “A Government of doers” (July 6). Prime Minister Narendra Modi has considered all aspects — experience, caste and region — while expanding his Council of Ministers. The new team is a blend of youth and experience. Many new Ministers are senior parliamentarians and seasoned politicians. Obviously, the Prime Minister wants more hands to deliver on his Government’s ambitious schemes. That as many as 10 new Ministers belonging to the Dalit-tribal-OBC sections have been brought on board, should bring cheer to these communities.

The new Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar, a go-getter, has been deservedly promoted, while Piyush Goyal, without being promoted has been given important portfolios. By not dropping some ‘non-performing’ Cabinet Ministers, Modi has sent them a subtle signal that while he is unhappy with their performance, he does not doubt their overall efficiency.
