Modi-Shah's OBC thrust has been mind-boggling

This refers to the editorial, “The BJP's big OBC push” (April 18). The astute duo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have deciphered the need to sustain and deepen the BJP's influence among the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the wake of a landslide win in Uttar Pradesh. Since the OBC make up for almost 52 per cent of the Indian population, the BJP's OBC thrust is apt. Modi’s call to his party workers, to work hard to ensure that those lok Sabha seats which have eluded the party, be the BJP's in the 2019 election, indicates that his inclusiveness pitch is at an all-time high.

The Government's focus on development and jobs have allured the minority community in a big way. Of course, the Government has been able to garner tremendous goodwill among Muslim women through its triple talaq push. Also, the Modi has coined a one-of-a-kind terminology, “backward Muslim”, which is very appropriate under the present circumstances.
