Modi charisma and BJP's clout evident in results

This refers to the editorial, “BJP's emphatic victory” (October 20). By scoring an outright win in Haryana, a State where the BJP did not have a major presence, and coming near the half-way mark in Maharashtra, which saw a four-cornered contest, the BJP has demonstrated its clout and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's charisma.

Achieving these victories without any strong local face or regional ally further signifies that the voters have immense confidence in Mr Modi's policies and governance. That party president Amit Shah is a master political strategist has been shown once again. He has moved some steps ahead in his stride towards the goal of Congress-mukt Bharat.

The next in line should be Delhi and Jharkhand. The Congress, which is touching new lows with alarming frequency, has too much on its plate to think of winning. With this resounding victory, Mr Modi's responsibility has increased manifold.
