It feels like Gandhi Jayanti celebrations have become a farce, with most Indians not understanding what the Mahatma stood for. The relevance of his ahimsa philosophy continues to be misunderstood in India, to the extent that some sections of modern society blame him for many of the ills that plague this country post-independence.
