This refers to the article, “The Establishment has been put on notice” (December 24) by A Surya Prakash. The author has hit the nail on the head. The BJP has missed several opportunities to expose the Congress’s misdeeds and misrule, allowing an impression to form that there is an unwritten quid pro quo arrangement between politicians from both parties.
It was not until the Congress, smugly and perhaps foolishly, taunted the BJP to name Mr Narendra Modi as its prime ministerial candidate (assuming that the party would be isolated in the political firmament if it so and therefore would not dare to present him on the national stage) did the fur really begin to fly. Mr Modi arrived like a roaring lion and the Congress, which had sowed the wind, had to reap the whirlwind.
The party's miserable performance at Delhi will be repeated emphatically all over the country in the general election. But the BJP will do well to back Mr Modi without any reservations at any level.
