This refers to the article, “No real democracy sans the majority” (June 10) by A Surya Prakash. The UPA Government was only for the minority and of the minority. The Gandhi-Nehru family and Mr Manmohan Singh dishonoured Hindu sentiments which evoked nationwide resentment. The party's crushing electoral defeat is a manifestation of its vicious campaign against the majority community. Some self-proclaimed intellectuals have said that Mr Singh is a man of unimpeachable integrity, but a person of high integrity would have been guided by balanced judgement.
Mr Singh promoted the policy of appeasement towards the minority community, even at times undermining national interest. He irresponsibly stated that Mr Narendra Modi would be disastrous for the nation. Congress president Sonia Gandhi appealed to the Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid in Delhi to direct the Muslim community to vote for the Congress. This revealed her sectarian politics and communal temperament.
