This refers to the article, “Pakistan policy needs both carrot and stick” (January 20) by Ashok K Mehta. The author has given an apt description of the Pakistan policy. Rightly, India has given Pakistan a long rope. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sudden visit to lahore was an attempt on our part to develop friendly relations with Pakistan, but the Pathankot attack has proved that our neighbour is not ready to develop peace. If indeed lessons have been learnt and Pakistan wants to fight terror, it must control its jihadi elements.
