This refers to the editorial, “Calypso’s back in cricket” (April 5). England’s hope of winning the T20 World Cup Cricket tournament got dashed with the mesmerising four sixes by Carlos Brathwaite in the last over. Equally praiseworthy is the feat of Marlon Samuels, who stood steady till the end with his precious contribution of 85 runs, and was rightly named Man of the match.
More importantly, this win is precious for West Indies. Despite facing a lot of issues, including a disrespectful cricket board, the team won the tournament. The Windies have proved that anything is possible if only we take things seriously and concentrate on our assignment by setting all problems aside — at least until we complete the task with success. It will take ages for cricket-lovers to forget this West Indian feat.
