This refers to the editorial, “Uncertainty bad for J&K” (February 9). That no Government is in place in Jammu & Kashmir ever since the Mufti passed away, does not augur well for the sensitive State that is ravaged by natural calamities, terror attacks and lacklustre administration. Though all eyes are on Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, she appears to be unsure and unconvinced on ways to stitch a fresh alliance.
Past history of the PDP's soft corner for terrorism and terrorists should have cautioned the BJP to go slow, inspite of doing well in the Jammu region. However, the Agenda of Alliance between the two parties, ably supervised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Mufti, had seen the coalition through.
The sagacity and foresight of Mr Modi and the Mufti prevented the presumable sinking of the alliance. Good sense should prevail upon Ms Mehbooba, and she should ward-off any design of the National Conference to come into the picture.
