Media-corporate nexus

Sir — This refers to the article, “Disclosure, please” (May 25) by Ramesh Rao.

Gone are the days when journalism used to be a profession of passion and courage. Today, it is more of a money-spinning business where editors have taken the back seat and are driven by their counterparts in marketing and their corporate employers. Thus, we get not only paid news but also a tainted view of that news which is then followed by manipulated panel discussions.

But there is a limit to how much one can tolerate such rabble rousing. Already many have stopped watching news channels. It seems like, if Government-controlled media had its ills, private enterprise is no better. Hopefully, the media-big business nexus will be broken.
