Meaningless criticism

Published on:

Sir — This refers to the article, “Crying wolf all too often” (November 28) by S Kalyanaraman and Kumar Chellappan. The entire article contains nothing but preposterous arguments emanating from a frenetic and lopsided mindset. The writers have unleashed a scathing onslaught on communist leaders and decided that anything Indian is anathema to the latter.  They also argue that many political leaders who are proud of Mother Tamil, send their children to English-medium schools and that Hindi films are running for weeks despite anti-Hindi feeling in Tamil Nadu. Further, they state that some political groups and intellectuals are trying to subvert the cultural heritage of India.

Anybody can speak for or against an issue based on their  knowledge, penchant and intent. But the fact is that, what was good and acceptable in the past is no longer relevant now. And what was awful and never thought of, is now common. Everything will change with the passage of time as people have an inherent thirst for new fashion and cultures and innovative methods. That is why even many foreigners prefer Indian traditional practices like yoga, dance forms, cultural dimensions etc. After all, change is the only phenomenon that has no change.
