Sir — This refers to the article, “Of nakedness, Hitler’s spirit and failed leaders” (July 26) by Anirban Ganguly. The writer has validly highlighted increasing evidence of “failed leaders” like Rahul Gandhi and foreign-based “half-intellectuals” like Amartya Sen, ganging up to malign Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government by projecting them as intolerant and anti-democratic. They have been joined by irrelevant, un-heard of self-appointed leaders like Martin luther King III, who visited India recently.
Their undeclared effort is to whitewash Rahul Gandhi’s grand mother Indira Gandhi’s illegal and authoritarian acts during the 21 months of Emergency, when the country was reduced to a big prison house to lock up the regime’s opponents. One could see how these opposition elements comprising communists and their associates in other parties like the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party etc, disrupt proceedings in Parliament to serve their petty, political aims.
luckily, the people at large have seen through their intentions and refuse to endorse them. All surveys undertaken by media houses confirm that Modi continues to enjoy overwhelming support from the Indian electorate igniting the Opposition’s frustration and their resort to unparliamentary practices to destroy the image of the BJP.
