Mamata's criticism of Modi, irresponsible

Published on:

This refers to the report, “Didi: Replace Modi with Advani, Rajnath, Jaitley” (January 7). One wonders, who gave West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the authority to voice her personal malice against an elected Prime MinisterIJ She is the Chief Minister of one State — West Bengal — representing a local party, Trinamool Congress, and its Government. A growing number of people in the State are arrayed against her because of her aggressive style of governance and her evil vote-bank politics; her party goons recently went on rampage, attacking her political opponents' offices and properties, burning them, but she did not condemn them.

Banerjee seems to delude herself into believing that by demanding the Prime Minister's ouster, she speaks for the poor, overlooking recent surveys indicating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi  enjoys greater support of the Indian voters than any other political leader. Banerjee's deep frustration is due to the chit fund scam, in which her senior colleagues are allegedly involved.
