Sir — This refers to the report, “BJP’s double happiness from polls” (October 16). Although exit polls are not always accurate, keeping in view the general mood of the people, it can be said that the BJP is going to emerge as the single largest party in Haryana as well as in Maharashtra, and that Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is going to be cut to size.
The erstwhile ruling Congress seems to be ending up as a third in both the States. The election campaign of the Congress was led by party president Sonia Gandhi and vice President Rahul Gandhi — though not whole-heartedly. Not learning any lesson from the party’s massive defeat in the lok Sabha election, they again focussed mainly on targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP, instead of speaking about the achievements of their State Governments and future programmes of their party.
