This refers to the recent objectionable statements of Mr Giriraj Singh of the BJP and Mr Ramdas Kadam of the Shiv Sena.
No doubt, the two are giant supporters of Mr Narendra Modi, but they should avoid inflammatory and provocative speeches. Irresponsible remarks are akin to creating a hole in a smooth-sailing ship that the Modi campaign has been. These leaders should not forget that the greatness of Arjun of the Mahabharat was not due to his hard work and practice alone; it was more due to concentration. Mr Modi has been proceeding with a single-minded dedication and has not resorted to irresponsible talk because he knows it will harm the BJP's chances.
Therefore, genuine supporters of Mr Modi should not deviate from their original goal of winning this election. They can do that by maintaining unity and avoiding the disintegration of support which happens when caste and religious considerations are dragged into the discourse.
