Sir — This refers to the article, “An Islamic arc of terror looms on the horizon” (June 23) by Balbir Punj. The author has drawn the attention of the readers to the alarming situation that has currently enveloped the Islamic world in West and South Asia. It is no small tragedy that Muslim intellectuals seem to treat these violent, sectarian and internecine happenings not as clear fault-lines in the interpretation of their faith but as some sort of conspiracy engineered by others. However, the end-result is a grave threat this dangerous, bloody conflict poses to non-Muslim nations like India. If the jihadi mindset finally succeeds in Iraq, it would be terrible.
