Sir — This refers to the article, “When litigation self-destructs” (October 11) by Shivaji Sarkar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi must personally intervene to help reduce Government litigation. During my tenure as a Government officer, I found that a substantial amount of appeal, filed by the Government in Customs and Excise cases, was a waste of time. Money and judicial reprimands were ignored by the officials concerned. This remains the case today.
