Sir — Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M Karunanidhi definitely needs to be celebrated for his glorious feats not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Indian politics. That he has not lost any of the Assembly elections contested by him is definitely a great record and an additional feather in his already decorated cap.
Moreover, the unmatched wisdom and intelligence he possesses, combined with his unparalleled administrative acumen, has made him become a statesman par excellence. Further, he is known for his friendship with all tall leaders of the country, irrespective of their political affiliations. The only exception was J Jayalalithaa.
This being the case, it is unfortunate that the DMK is inviting only the Opposition leaders, particularly those who are opposed to the BJP for the diamond jubilee celebrations of this doyen’s entry into the Assembly slated for June 3 which synchronizes with his 94th birth day. The party is thus denying a grander and much better accolade which the DMK patriarch richly deserves.
