This refers to the report, “Togadia booked; EC to probe his speech” (April 22). The BJP has promptly denounced Mr Praveen Togadia's offensive remarks. However, it was shocking to see a few English television news channels criticising Mr Narendra Modi's ‘silence' on the issue. Clearly, it did not matter to them that BJP spokespersons had condemned the statement, and point out that the alleged offender was not a member of the party.
It seems that the anchors were either deliberately projecting the matter in a perverse manner to serve their prejudiced, motivated agenda, or that they were ignorant of the fact the Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader dislikes Mr Modi and his brand of development politics.
The question is: Why should Mr Modi waste his precious time denying every nonsensical statement that people makeIJ Is it for the media to decide when the BJP's prime ministerial candidate should speak or comment on a given issueIJ
