Sir — The death of American literary giant, Philip Roth, the most prolific American novelist who was considered as one of the most formidable figures in modern American post-war literature, has saddened one and all.
Though the Nobel Prize eluded him, he rightly deserved it. Nevertheless, he had almost every major literary prize, like the Pulitzer Prize, Man Booker International prize, Faulkner awards and the National Book awards to his name for his contributions to English literature.
Philip Roth was among the last of major galaxy of writers who were raised without television, social media and who believed in engaging readers through their work. He will be best remembered as one of the most celebrated authors of his generation.
