Sir — This refers to the editorial, “last of the hockey heroes” (July 22). With the demise of legendary hockey player Mohmmed Shahid, India has lost one of the greatest players who played for the country with immense passion and vigour.
Shahid will be best remembered for his wizardly hockey stick and superbly dribbling skill and as a member of the V Bhaskaran-led Indian team that won Gold medal at the Moscow olympics in 1980. He was a multifaceted personality, a great player par excellence, a good human being and an excellent singer.
