Sir — This refers to the article, “leftists stir the pot at IIT Madras” (June 3) by Kumar Chellappan. like the Kudankulam agitation, one suspects the hidden hand of the church in the ongoing nautanki at Indian Institute of Technology (Madras). The very name, Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle, is a travesty. Ambedkar was the very anti-thesis of Periyar. They were as different as chalk and cheese. Also, this ‘casteist’ rant against the supposed Brahminical order at IIT(M) is a classic take from the work of Bishop Robert Caldwell, a Christian missionary who worked in Tamil Nadu.
