learning a lesson

Sir — This refers to the article,  “Culture is the root of Indian nationhood” (June 12) by Sandhya Jain. The difficulty is that our self-styled secularists refuse to learn lessons from history and do not even care to go deep into details. They remain obsessed with their self-cultivated notions. The basic thinking of Nehru Congress is analogous to that of Muslim league as both consider Hinduism a religion and Islam a parallel religion.

While, on this basis, the Muslim league chalked out the notorious two-nation theory and demanded a separate homeland for so-termed ‘Muslim nation’, the Congress endeavoured to unite the two with fevicolic joints, that cracked. Even the etymology of term ‘Hindu’ indicates that it has territorial, national and cultural significance.
