leadership missing

Published on:

Sir — To win elections, a party needs far-sightedness, a time-oriented plan of action, collective effort and a central figure to lead the campaign. The Congress lacks all these. Many Congress leaders are perceived to be lazy, power-hungry and spineless. They still have unconditional faith in Mr Rahul Gandhi’s questionable leadership.

Indeed, the Aam Aadmi Party’s victory in Delhi symbolises the Congress’s failure to tap the grassroots. People’s reaction at the hustings reflects their frustration, hate and anger against mainstream political parties.

The Congress has become a ‘mother-and-son’ party. The Government and the party mix together while the Prime Minister has become a puppet. Mr Gandhi and Ms Sonia Gandhi must assume responsibility for the Congress’s rout in the recent Assembly elections. While Mr Narendra Modi, the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, motivates the country with nationalistic sentiments through many activities, Mr Gandhi appears aimless and puzzled.
