leadership crisis will ruin the Congress

This refers to the editorial, “Rahul Gandhi’s failures” (October 22). It has rightly said that Rita Bahuguna Joshi's exit from the Congress may not impact the Congress’s prospects in the ensuing Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh. However, it will certainly benefit the BJP which is already in an upbeat mode, with a few Bahujan Samaj Party stalwarts joining the party recently. The icing on the top for the BJP is the Samajwadi Party family feud in Uttar Pradesh.

Further, the revolt in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh is directly linked to the indifference and insensitivity which the Congress scion has shown to party loyals. Sensible advice has fallen on Rahul Gandhi’s deaf ears, thereby leading to a precarious situation. The delay in anointing him as party president has worsened the situation. This is an added benefit for the BJP. If the trend of Rahul Gandhi’s intransigence continues, the day is not far when other States in the Congress’s kitty slip out of hand.
