lawless UP

Published on:

Sir — The rape and murder of two sisters in Badaun in Uttar Pradesh is another blot on Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s image. Ever since he took over in March 2012, the crime graph in the State has consistently gone up.

Initially, people were willing to give him a second chance, considering his age and inexperience. But the young Chief Minister seems to have taken the people’s support for granted. That he cannot do so anymore was reflected in the lok Sabha election result from the State, which was a referendum on the Samajwadi Party Government.

That the custodians of law have often been found to be participants or instigators of the crimes against women reflects the sorry state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh.
