Sir — This general election has been historic for the BJP and the Congress for different reasons. Whereas the Congress failed to provide effective leadership, the BJP under Mr Narendra Modi understood the people’s mood. While the blame for the worst ever failure of the Congress goes to Mr Rahul Gandhi’s ego and inexperience, the credit for the BJP’s victory is chiefly to Mr Modi who raised the issues of lack of governance, growing corruption and a strong desire to deliver.
The lackadaisical attitude of the Congress towards matters of public concern, the incoherence within the party structure and the growing nepotism led the party to its historical defeat. Whether the BJP under Mr Modi fulfils the people’s expectations, will be seen in the days to come.
