This refers to the article, “Has lalu Prasad come to the end of roadIJ” (July 26) by Kalyani Shankar. The writer's observation is such that it means as if Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and former Bihar Chief Minister lalu Prasad Yadav has always been a political force to reckon with, both at the State and national level alike for his perennial relevance and time-tested resilience, which also saw him facing charges of his involvement in various scams. He even faced imprisonment. However, every time he rose like a phoenix from the ashes. Kudos to the leader's political sagacity as he succeeds in touching a chord with the masses who consider lalu Prasad their messiah. This was also vindicated in his role in forging an understanding among political rival parties, to culminate in the formation of the mahagathbandhan which kept the BJP at bay in Bihar.
In the present scenario, lalu Prasad and his family members are undergoing a Central Bureau of Investigation probe allegedly for a dubious deal in the allotment of railways’ hotels to a private company during his tenure as the Railway Minister. His instrumental role in politics ahead remains in a precarious state. Whether or not lalu Prasad will emerge from the scratch again this time is really loaded with curiosity of all sorts.
