Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Victory for the people” (December 30). One cannot compare the movements of Jayaprakash Narayan or the BJP with that of the Aam Aadmi Party.

These movements had a solid philosophical grounding with a clear vision for society and country, whereas the AAP’s movement is based on borrowed agenda (of the lokpal, for instance) and hollow populist measures. It is unfortunate to see people being swayed by it. 

Despite its shortcomings, the BJP has worked tirelessly towards an ideology and a vision. The party derives its strength from a huge support base which is committed to the same ideology. There is no need to panic or be overawed by a party committed to spit-and-run politics. Just calling the bluff of the AAP should bring the BJP home.
