Sir — This refers to the news report, “Experience wins over youth in rejig” (June 18). The much-awaited ministerial reshuffle turned out to be a big damp squib. The reshuffle is aimed at appeasing some sections and placating others. With elections to many States round the corner, the rejig was an attempt to give more ministerial berths to election-bound States with a view to woo the voters.
In the process, efficiency, expediency, suitability and performance have been relegated to the background. Hence, these ‘rituals’ create interest only in political circles and not among the common man. People have to wait and watch if this, hopefully last, reshuffle will improve the performance of the Government.
