This refers to the editorial, “Mamata’s real challenge” (May 30). As expected, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s  oath-taking ceremony was a grand affair with many regional leaders making their presence felt, trying to raise the third front issue once again.

However, instead of trying to form a third front, Banerjee must give her State the top priority. It was not the Trinamool Congress which won the election, but it was Mamata Banerjee who single-handedly ensured that she got this massive win under her belt.

Also, she has to be more democratic in her style of functioning, as an authoritative style has its own shortcomings. The Chief Minister has to start trusting her leaders and empower them to take decisions for the benefit of the State.
