Keep words soft, lest you have to eat them later

Congress spokesperson Janardan Dwivedi, while dismissing the Opposition's demand for the heads of Union Minister for Railways Pawan Kumar Bansal and Union Minister for law and Justice, Ashwani Kumar, for their political impropriety in the railway and coal scams, recently declared brazenly that asking for resignations had become a ‘disease' for the BJP.

But ironically, within five days of this pronouncement, Congress president Sonia Gandhi asked for and got the same two resignations from an extremely reluctant Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This ‘asking for resignation' sure seems to be a very infectious disease that has spread from the BJP to the very top echelon of the Congress itself!

One sincerely hopes that Congress leaders like Mr Dwivedi and Mr Digvijaya Singh, who was stoutly defending and absolving Mr Bansal from any wrongdoing only a day earlier, will show some respect to the Opposition instead of ridiculing it. This latest incident has only resulted in their having to eat their words.
