Judicial system must do deep introspection

This refers to the editorial, “Deeply flawed verdict” (October 19). It's about time the judges were questioned openly in the media and some of their verdicts criticised. Judges have been treated as holy cows, when they are as human and as prone to error as the common man.

Some of the verdicts in recent bail petitions clearly show that in India, some people are more equal than others. And then there is the blog of a former judge accusing another judge of corrupt deals. There are many other instances where it becomes clear that all is not well in the judiciary. Now, this system wants to appoint judges on its own! This is disturbing.

The apex court ruling that has struck down the National Judicial Appointments Commission is flawed, with even the media saying so. I openly say that I would rather have my tryst with my Maker, rather than suffer in a court of law.
