Job opportunities

Sir — The Union Ministry of Human Resource Development’s decision to discontinue the teaching of German language in Kendriya Vidyalayas ignores ground realities.

The ministry has overlooked how Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been promoting India’s relations with developed countries to attract foreign investment  which, in turn, will create millions of job opportunities here. To interact with foreign investors in India, the ability to speak foreign languages is important.

Also, many Indian students go to the US, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, France and Ukraine to study technical and medical courses. In those countries, they have to devote some time to  learn the language in which they have to study.

Additionally, Mr Modi has rightly said that there is lot of scope for Indian teachers in foreign lands, but they must not be confined to teaching Hindi, Sanskrit and English.
