Sir — This refers to the article, “Dravida land politics hots up” (November 10) by Kumar Chellappan. I do not agree with the writer that the people of Tamil Nadu are ready to accept the BJP. The only factor in favour of the party is the image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Even though many politicians and film stars in Tamil Nadu are eager to join the BJP and work for the party, they do not prefer to take the bold step because of the hold of the AIADMK and the unparalleled sympathy and support for its leader J Jayalalithaa among the masses. Moreover, even those personalities who nurse the desire and plan to jump into the political fray, fear that even their existing status and fame may be eroded or snatched away in the event of such a venture. That is why they maintain a discreet silence.
