It's now time to deliver on single-test system

Published on:

This refers to the editorial, “Commonsense verdict” (April 13). Explicit in the Supreme Court's verdict nullifying an earlier order and confirming a common entrance test for all medical colleges across the country, is the realisation that the first order was hurriedly delivered, following want of discussion. Proverbially speaking, ‘better late than never'. The rectification in question has added a feather to the judiciary's cap. The editorial has rightly said that the restoration of the single National-Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is a boon for medical aspirants as this decision will save them a lot of running from pillar to post, filling various applications for different medical colleges etc.

However, it will be difficult for the authorities to tackle the implementation of this verdict, without upsetting the set schedule in a large measure. It is now incumbent upon the authorities concerned to timely implement the single-test system. let's hope for the better.
