This refers to the article, “An Islamic arc of terror looms on the horizon” (June 23) by Balbir Punj. The grave global reality of terror in the name of Islam is a danger to the world.
It is equally a big danger for the Islamic community. Such terrorism seeks to destroy all that is noble in the human civilisation and also that which the Muslims claim is the true meaning of Islam. The world is gradually waking up to the dangers posed by such terrorism.
It is time that the Muslim community across the world takes a decisive lead in mobilising its power to crush such terrorism everywhere. Muslims have been showing aggressive and massive responses against any act by non-Muslims that the former perceive as anti-Islam. It is expected that they will show a similar determination against the terrorism unleashed in the name of their religion, since such militancy dents the image of the religion itself.
