Sir — This refers to the report “‘PM clicks selfies with tycoons, not with poor’” (September12). Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi seems to believe that by targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he can garner votes for his party.
As usual, Gandhi, during his Kisan Yatra in Uttar Pradesh, has targeted the Prime Minister for the condition of farmers in the State, saying that people have seen him clicking selfies with industrialists, but no one has seen him clicking selfies with the farmers.
It must be recalled that during the Union Budget 2016-2017, the Modi Government allocated Rs 877.6 billion for rural development. It is for the Uttar Pradesh Government to implement various pro-farmer and pro-labourer schemes launched by the Modi Government. This alone will improve the condition of the farmers and not the selfies with Modi. Rahul Gandhi is aspiring to become the country’s Prime Minister; he needs to be mature, sensible in his utterances.
