Sir — This refers to the editorial “AAP’s blunders never end” (June 12). That the Aam Aadmi Party, coming to power with a spectacular victory in Delhi, has not succeeded in handling the problems it faced in a pragmatic way, is clear from the arrest of Mr Jitender Singh Tomar. Had Mr Tomar put in his papers on moral grounds, as is a common precedent, it would have spared the party from shame.
From the suicide of a farmer during an AAP rally and the expulsion of its founding members to the stand-off between the lt Governor and the Chief Minister and the recent allegations of domestic violence against an AAP leader — all point to a crisis within the party. These cases are providing AAP’s rivals an opportunity to fish in troubled waters, even if the reason behind the party’s woes may be vindictive politics.
These developments have created an adverse impact on the AAP’s credibility. Meanwhile, the people of Delhi are caught up in a showdown between the Union and the State Government.
