This refers to the article, “Bringing innovation to the centre-stage” (October 9) by RK Pachauri. It is due to the lack of good research universities that India lags behind in the education sector. There is not a single university in our country that counts among the top one hundred research universities in the world. And such universities cannot be established overnight.
You need high quality faculty for that purpose. One way to man such an institution in India will be to tap into the ‘brain deposit’ that Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about in Silicon Valley.
The Indian diaspora in the United States, who have retired from top Ivy league universities, can be lured back to India by offering them attractive packages. They can man such an institution and contribute to the elimination of innovation deficit in India.
