Sir — This refers to the report, “Advani showers praise on PM nominee Modi” (September 17). At last BJP veteran lK Advani has softened his stand on Mr Narendra Modi and fallen in line with the party leadership’s decision to anoint the Gujarat Chief Minister as the prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 lok Sabha election.
Mr Advani has demonstrated time and again that he is a mature politician and will never do anything to wreck the party despite being sidelined more often than not in the recent past.
Understandably, the vast league of admirers, the cadre and the BJP supporters are all for making Mr Modi the face of the party for the forthcoming poll, but even so, the senior leader should been given a patient hearing. It is Mr Advani who nurtured the party and raised it to its present size and stature.
