This refers to the editorial, “Welcome home, BSY!” (January 1). The return of Mr BS Yeddyurappa to the BJP is bring celebrated much like Ms Uma Bharati's re-joining the party was cheered earlier.
But as is now known, the impact of Ms Bharati's participation in the recently-concluded Assembly election in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in her own region of Bundelkhand, has been, at best, modest.
Similarly, it is assumed that Mr Yeddyurappa’s contribution to the BJP in the 2014 election will be similar what he was able to offer in 2009. During that lok Sabha election, he helped the BJP win 19 seats in Karnataka. But let not discount the capricious nature of the electorate.
