Sir —This refers to the report, “Kejri acts to own script, exits fast” (February 15). Viewed from the high-handed action and careless decision of Mr Arvind Kejriwal, it appears that he lacked mature thought and consummated mind to discharge his assigned responsibilities in accordance with prescribed procedures and the rule of law. No doubt his top-most objective was to eradicate corruption at all levels by passing the Jan lokpal Bill. But, when the lieutenant Governor advised the Assembly against tabling the Bill since the same was not in accordance with the procedures the law provides, Mr Kejriwal should have secured the permission of the members of the Assembly before insisting on the introduction.
He considered his will as sovereign, undermining all established convention and propriety. This is why the BJP and the Congress prevented Mr Kejriwal’s Government from introducing the Bill. Mr Kejriwal (and not vested interests) is responsible for his own fall. The electorate of Delhi had chosen him and his party in the hope that they would provide corruption-free and effective governance within the framework of law, democratic propriety and established convention. But he has let the people down.
