Sir — While former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa hailed his acquittal by a CBI court in a case of graft, the Congress has alleged that the court’s judgement is based on the exercise of political influence.
The BJP hopes that the verdict will considerably improve its chances of returning to power in the 2018 Assembly election. No wonder the jubilation in BJP circles is understandable. However, the verdict will help the lingayat strongman to more or less wash away the taint.
Four cases, all private complaints related to denotification, are still pending against Yeddyurappa, who is nursing the ambition of becoming the Chief Minister of Karnataka for the third time.
